Second grade is a formative year where we see students transition from learning to read to reading to learn. We work on the important elements of reading such as fluency and comprehension and we learn important phonics skills. Students will learn about the writing process, write personal narratives, write creative short stories, and create How-To books. In Math, students will add and subtract two and three digit numbers, solve word problems, and lay the foundation for multiplication. In science we will learn about plants, the solar system, life cycles, and the effects of erosion.  In social studies we will learn about geography and what it means to be a productive citizen.  We are so excited and ready for this new school year!
